Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region conduct exercises to improve the reliability of the power grid complex and combat theft

15 March 2022

Within a month, exercises will be held on the territory of the Kalininsky, Kalyazinsky, Kimrsky, Toropetsky, Rzhevsky, Maksatikhinsky, Zubtsovsky, Staritsky and Vesyegonsky districts of the Tver region, which will allow employees of the energy company to improve their skills in preventing the occurrence of mass technological disturbances under the influence of excess weather loads on the energy system and consolidate knowledge on the development and implementation of measures to improve the reliability of the operation of the electric grid complex.

Together with specialists from Tverenergo, representatives of 6 branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga region, 139 people, 49 pieces of equipment, are involved in the exercises.

In the shortest possible time, a large amount of work will be done in the Tver region. Employees of the electric grid complex will replace, install and straighten out 60 power line poles, pull and repair about 5,480 m of 6-10 kV overhead lines, clear 37.4 hectares of routes in security zones of overhead lines and cut down 175 trees threatening to fall on them. The main volume of measures to improve reliability will be implemented on those sections of the lines where repeated technological violations were previously recorded.

As part of the fight against theft of electricity, the specialists of the electric grid company will carry out large-scale work, including a check of consumers disconnected at the request of the energy sales company for unauthorized connection, instrumental examination of electricity metering measuring devices, and mass taking of control meter readings.

The work carried out will significantly reduce energy losses, identify facts of illegal resource consumption by third parties, reduce the cost of paying for stolen kilowatt-hours, and ultimately improve the reliability of power supply and increase the quality of services for consumers in the region.

“The Tver region has repeatedly become a platform for exercises of power engineers of various targets,” says Maxim Shitikov, Deputy General Director - Director of the branch of Rosseti Centre - Tverenergo. - This practice has shown its effectiveness: crews from different regions of Russia receive advanced technological experience from us, and the implemented activities benefit the power grid facilities of the Upper Volga Region. The ongoing exercises include two different thematic areas, but at the same time they pursue a common goal - the uninterrupted operation of the power grid complex and reliable power supply to inhabitants of the region.”
