22 October 2018

“More than 4,468 hectares of more than 6,000 km of ROWs of overhead lines in the Tver region were cleared from bushes and trees,” said Igor Makovskiy, General Director of IDGC of Centre - the managing organization of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region.

According to the head of the company, the expansion was also carried out in the amount of 595.9 hectares along 346.8 km of overhead lines of the main grid.

Additional volumes for clearing ROWs of overhead lines will also be completed. “At present, relying on the wishes of the heads of municipalities, as well as the check carried out by the power engineers, we are talking about 4,000 hectares additional to the planned 6,500 hectares,” stressed Igor Makovskiy.

The result of the exercises in the Tver region should be a 30% reduction in failure rates in the regional power grid complex and an increase in the reliability of power facilities, regardless of natural disasters.

Large-scale and unprecedented exercises of power engineers of Rosseti’s group of companies started in the Tver region on 22 September with the support of the Government of the region. The exercises involved more than 5,000 people from 20 branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, as well as contracting organizations and forest owners of the Tver region.

Until 22 December of this year, the power engineers will have to clear 6.5 thousand hectares of ROWs of overhead power lines, expand one thousand hectares of ROWs of overhead lines, and also replace 540 km of “bare” wire with self-supporting insulated one (SIW). The exercises are conducted in close cooperation with the Government of the Tver region.
