In 2016 IDGC of Centre exceeded the plan to reduce losses in grids

2 February 2017

IDGC of Centre summed up the work in 2016 to reduce losses in electric grids. Following the results of the year, their level in the Company amounted to 9.36%, which is 0.02% lower than established in the business plan. Savings amounted to 11.8 million KWh or 25 million rubles. Compared with 2015, losses in distribution networks of the company decreased by 0.15% (32.0 million KWh).

The achievement of this result was due to the implemented by IDGC of Centre target Program to reduce electric energy losses, which includes a set of organizational and technical measures.

Raids to identify non-metered electricity consumption bring the greatest effect, which are conducted by staff of Distribution Zones and offices of electric energy metering of the company’s branches, including in conjunction with specialists from the security unit. Last year, more than 102.5 million KWh of electricity, stolen by unscrupulous customers, totalling 255.1 million rubles, were included into the productive supply of the company’s electric energy.

Effective technological measures that can help reduce losses include redistribution of loads and switching off of unloaded transformers at substations, installation of a larger wire gauge on congested power lines, mounting self-supporting insulated wire on lines.

The savings resulting from the implementation by IDGC of Centre of the Program to reduce electric energy losses are used as an additional source of funding to address the priorities facing the company.
