In the Tambov region a criminal case on theft of electricity from IDGC of Centre on a large scale opened

The Investigative Department of Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs of Municipality "Morshansky" (Tambov region) completed examination of a fact of non-metered consumption of electricity supplied by IDGC of Centre – Tambovenergo division to provide electricity to OJSC "Brewery "Morshansky", located in the city of Morshansk of the Tambov region. The check found that as a result of electricity consumption with faulty meters, OJSC "Brewery "Morshansky" inflicted material damage to Tambovenergo on a large scale in excess of eighteen million rubles. Under this incident on 30 November opened a criminal case on the grounds of an offense under Part 2 of Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Causing damage to property by deception or abuse of trust" and implies punishment, including imprisonment up to 5 years. The case was agreed to hear.

IDGC of Centre continues regular work on the prevention and suppression in regions of its service area (11 regions of the Central Federal District) of facts of non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. Staff of Distribution Zones and electric energy metering departments of the company’s branches conduct regular raids, which also involve specialists of the security unit. Particular attention is paid to work with troubled consumers. Their check is preceded by thorough preparation and briefing of participants of a raid by specialists of security units of the branches. As part of investigative measures in several cases staff of regional offices of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was involved to take part in raids.

Under revealed facts of theft claim-related work is performed. Petitions on facts of unauthorized electric energy consumption, revealed by the security unit of IDGC of Centre, are sent to law enforcement agencies, and often serve as the basis for opening criminal cases against energy thieves.
