IDGC of Centre deployed 17 standby power supply sources in the Tver region

18 November 2016

In the forests in the southeast of the Tver region power engineers continue eliminating the consequences of the cyclone, which over the weekend brought down all power to Konakovsky, Kimrsky and Kalyazinsky districts. Settlements of the region, where so far there are local power outages due to difficult weather conditions, are powered with temporary power supply circuits. For this the electric grid company IDGC of Centre deployed in the region 17 additional stand-alone backup power supply sources with a total capacity of 920 kW.

For Konakovsky district it was decided to assign 13 backup power supply sources. Four of them feed electricity to socially significant boilers, three – the agricultural holding "Dimitrov Mountain". Two supply electricity to the sanatoriums "Karacharovo" and "Energetic" and the rest are temporarily transferred to rural settlements. 4 backup power supply sources were transported to Kimrsky district to supply the resource to the boiler room in the village of Kuchino and three power lines. Thus, it was made possible to significantly reduce the risks of power outages to customers, who became snowbound.

At the same time in the swamps in the forest belt IDGC of Centre’s staff around the clock clears the area along power lines from icy trees that fell outside the ROWs borders. In addition, work is underway to saw trunks and branches that under the weight of stuck snow and ice threaten new wire breakage. Great help is provide to the power engineers by rescuers and crews formed from the local community and working under the supervision of experienced staff of IDGC of Centre.

For coordinated first responding and restoration operations in the area of local interruptions in the power supply a mobile control room operates, where the leadership of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division and General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tver region together make organizational decisions. Heads of municipalities are in close cooperation with the power engineers and rescuers. Thanks to this in the districts technical personnel work was quickly organized, and residents were notified: yard rounds, putting up notifications about local power failures on large infrastructure facilities with indication of telephone hotlines, where they can seek help.
