Tver Region Governor checked the work of the electric grid complex in Konakovsky district

16 November 2016

16 November Governor of the Tver region Igor Rudenya personally inspected the progress of work on elimination of consequences of freezing rain in Konakovsky, Kimrsky and Kalyazinsky districts. Head of the region flew around the area that was most affected during the passage of the cyclone at the weekend. Head of EMERCOM in the Tver region Arsen Grigoryan and Acting Deputy General Director - IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division director Vadim Yurchenko also took part in the inspection.

Now on the territory of these districts a large grouping of forces and means of IDGC of Centre has been concentrated. First responding and restoration crews from other municipalities of the Tver region have been deployed there, and power engineers have been brought from the company’s branches - Yarenergo, Kostromaenergo, Voronezhenergo, Belgorodenergo and Smolenskenergo. In total, in the south-east of the Tver region there are 487 specialists working around the clock, which make up 78 crews. All the power engineers are provided with winter overalls, protective equipment and specialized vehicles, including off-road. There is also a deployed mobile control room of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tver region. 120 rescuers are assisting the specialists of IDGC of Centre to clear areas along power lines from icy trees that fell from outside ROWs borders. In addition, work is underway to cut trunks and branches that under the weight of snow and ice threaten new wire breakage.

The situation is complicated by the fact that on one of 35kV overhead lines during the freezing rain a pole broke. This section of the power line is in the hands of private companies, which in spite of the conditions of service of the overhead line, did not carry out repair of power equipment and clearing the ROWs. Lack of proper maintenance led to the fact that the steel structure at some point did not survive the onslaught of the bad weather and, leaning, fell. "Businesses need to understand that the fate and safety of thousands of people depend on their jobs. It was decided to repair and restore the facility. Then we will understand how the property owners operate it," outlined Igor Rudenya. Governor noted that in the Tver region the policy of consolidation of power grid assets needs to be continued in order to have a single point of responsibility for the quality of the region’s electricity supply.

The section of the overhead line, at which the pole fell, is strategically important for Konakovsky district. It feeds large electricity infrastructure facilities of the municipality, including the sanatorium "Karacharovo" and the agricultural holding "Dimitrov Mountain". To ensure uninterrupted power supply at the time of repair these facilities will be provided with redundant power supply sources. Realizing that the end customer should not become hostage to a dispute between economic entities, IDGC of Centre fully took all costs for the restoration of the given line section to restore a stable electricity supply circuit in the district as soon as possible.

In general, the core grid of the Tver region is operating satisfactorily, there is work under individual requests in networks of 0.4 kV, which the power engineers of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre immediately react to.
