IDGC of Centre’s power engineers eliminated the consequences of bad weather in the regions of its service area

13 November 2016

In the service area of IDGC of Centre all emergency outages were eliminated, which were triggered by freezing rain, which hit the northern regions of Central Russia on 11 November. The company’s power engineers eliminated the effects of a Mediterranean cyclone in less than two days.

Abundant precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow on the background of negative temperatures and gusting wind caused the formation of ice on power lines and trees. This led to numerous breakages of wires and, as a consequence, significant interruption in the power supply. In the branches of IDGC of Centre, hit by the bad weather, on Friday evening a special operation mode was introduced, which is remaining to this day. 116 crews, consisting of 580 specialists were involved in the first responding and restoration operation. 162 specialized vehicles were used, including off-road.

At the moment subzero temperature is stable in the service area of IDGC of Centre. There is still frost on power line wires. In this regard, the company warns of possible local power supply interruptions and asks its customers to treat this with understanding. The energy company maintains constant control over the situation and promptly responds to facts of power supply interruption.
