IDGC of Centre’s power engineers assist to restore electricity supply interrupted by bad weather in the Kaluga region

11 November 2016

On the night of November 11, the southern and northern parts of the Kaluga region were exposed to cyclones, accompanied by freezing rain, wet snow and strong winds, which caused power outages in rural settlements of several districts.

Liquidation of technological violations in the territories affected by the bad weather is being performed by 87 crews of "Kalugaenergo" from IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, forces in other branches of the company were also mobilized.

IDGC of Centre’s power engineers are actively assisting the Kaluga colleagues. Already in the morning of 11 November 40 crews were sent to the Kaluga Region (227 people and 74 specialized vehicles) from the company’s branches, equipped with all necessary materials and equipment. IDGC of Centre’s specialists are involved in the first responding and restoration operations and work on transfer of consumers to backup power supply circuits.

The work is expected to continue until the restoration of regular power supply circuits for all consumers in the region.

This is the first example of effective interaction of power engineers of the two companies after the decision adoption by PJSC "Rosseti" in October to introduce single control in the subsidiaries of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region, entrusting management of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region to General Director of IDGC of Centre Oleg Isaev. This measure is aimed at improving the operational and financial efficiency of the companies, reducing operating costs and ensuring reliable power supply to all categories of consumers. The quality of the organization of work in the aftermath of bad weather in the Kaluga region, in practice, confirms the effectiveness of the adopted by PJSC "Rosseti" model. In addition to improving quality management, the scale effect allows as soon as possible to attract significant forces and means for liquidation of consequences of technological violations in 20 regions of Russia.

General Director of IDGC of Centre, Acting General Director of IDGC of Centre and Volga Region Oleg Isaev controls the situation through the single operational and situational centre, which allows for the transfer of forces and means to the Kaluga region to prevent the weakening of the situation in the region, providing assistance, and to ensure the stability of the Central Federal District energy system. Cooperation has been set with involved contractors of the both companies, as well as divisions of FGC UES, to eliminate damage to the power grid.
