IDGC of Centre’s power engineers promptly eliminate the consequences of freezing rain in the Tver region

On the night of 11 to 12 November specialists of IDGC of Centre – Tverenergo division restored electricity supply in 95 localities of the Tver region. The company continues to maintain a special operation mode, carries out continuous monitoring of the situation.

A serious deterioration of weather conditions has been observed for more than a day in the Tver region. The bad weather in the form of freezing rain and gusty winds caused a power failure in Kimrsky, Konakovsky, Kashinsky and Kalyazinsky districts. There were also some power outages for the rest of the Tver region. Abundant rainfall put weight on wires and broke them and gusty winds caused falling trees on power lines due to changing ROWs.

At the moment the weather in the region has stabilized. IDGC of Centre’s power engineers around the clock in the Tver region are performing first responding and restoration operations, which involve 57 crews (164 people) and off-road vehicles. These include additional crews from neighbouring branches of the power grid company - Yarenergo, Kostromaenergo, Smolenskenergo have been involved to assist Tverenergo in districts with the largest number of outages.

Tverenergo’s staff is in constant interaction with local units of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tver region, representatives of contractors, as well as crisis management centres, functioning on the territory of municipalities. In addition to rescue workers, who provide much support to the energy company, workers of the forest industry have come to the aid. Foresters and rangers cut trunks of trees, which damaged power lines.
