IDGC of Centre’s team - the Energy Cup winner

From 17 to 18 September in Moscow at the universal sports arena "Crocus Expo" the VII International Energy Cup in mini-football was held. The football team of IDGC of Centre became winners of the tournament for the first time.

Since 2010 1,500 athletes-power engineers from more than 100 companies have become members of the energy movement. At this time, eight companies of the fuel and energy sector competed for the title of the strongest, which played the prized cup.

IDGC of Centre’s team was composed of the best players of the Belgorod and Kursk branches of the company. In the group stage they won second place with a score of 2:7, having lost only to players from Oblkommunenergo. As a result, with 9 scored points the communal players led the group "B", the players of IDGC of Centre scored 6 points and were on the second line of the tournament table.

In the first Gold Series semi-final on Sunday the players IDGC of Centre met with the leaders of the group "A" – Tatneft’s team. The oilers won on the eve of all group matches and went to the court in the status of favorites. However, in a bitter struggle with the score 3:2 the victory was with the electric power industry players.

In the second semi-final with a score of 5:1 Oblkommunenergo’s team beat SUENCO, as a result the electric power industry players in the final played versus the communal team again. In a bitter struggle for Energy Cup the team of IDGC of Centre took revenge for the loss the previous day, defeating the opponent with a score of 3:2. During a total of five games the players scored 12 goals. Dmitriy Belykh was recognized the best player of the tournament, a worker for comprehensive maintenance and repair of buildings of the administrative and economic department from IDGC of Centre – Kurskenergo division.

The team captain, the master of a crew operating overhead lines of Valuisky Distribution Zone from IDGC of Centre – Belgorodenergo division Alexey Kovalev, noted the high intensity of the competition and striving of all the players to win: "From the beginning of the tournament we were captured by the spirit of competition. The opponent was strong, but our team was not worse, as a result of the team unity and unwillingness to concede brought us the victory in a difficult and almost equal game. After a successful performance in the group we had every chance to win the coveted trophy, we are very pleased that we met the expectations of our fans."

The annual industry sports championship in mini-football for employees of energy, nuclear and coal companies has been held for the seventh time, gathering on the sportsground leaders of the energy industry. IDGC of Centre is active in the area of development and promotion of sports among its employees. The number of participants of corporate sports events and days grows every year, and the athletes of the electric power industry show increasingly good results.
