Power engineers of IDGC of Centre are completing the restoration of power supply in regions of Central Federal District interrupted by bad weather

13 January 2016

Repair crews of power engineers of IDGC of Centre are completing restoration of electricity supply in the regions affected by the cyclone that hit them last night. Precipitation in the form of sleet and rain, accompanied by gusty winds, led to technological breakdowns in the distribution grid of a number of subjects of the Central Federal District, in the service area of the company.

Thanks to beforehand taken measures by the power engineers (already yesterday afternoon the branches of IDGC of Centre, working in the regions affected by the beat of the cyclone, introduced state of high alert, set up round the clock duty of first responding and mobile crews, set control over the operational situation and operation of equipment) they could avoid massive power outages and violations of work of social facilities, reduce the time of restoration. Each Distribution Zone performed constant monitoring of the weather conditions, evidence of ice-monitored stations, and controlled the level of freezing ice on wires.

Repair crews of IDGC of Centre were sent promptly to places of technological disturbances, equipped with all necessary equipment, materials and special vehicles. Throughout the night, one after another, the power engineers worked on the damaged sections. In the southern regions of the Central Federal District emergency repair work was carried out in the pouring rain and strong wind, which, in particular, complicated the use of aerials. However, despite the difficulties, by the morning of 13 January electricity supply across the distribution grid of 10 kV and higher was restored. Currently, the company’s specialists are working to address individual complaints of private customers. The operational environment is under constant control of the crisis management centre of IDGC of Centre.
