The failure-rate in grids of IDGC of Centre for nine months of 2015 decreased by 21% compared to the same period in 2014

7 December 2015

For 9 months of 2015 energy facilities of IDGC of Centre on equipment from 6 to 110 kV had no more than 35 failures per 1,000 km of the length of power lines, which is 21% less than in the same period last year.

The reduction of the amount of electricity not supplied for nine months of 2015 was 9.1%. The volume of electricity not supplied for 9 months of 2015 amounted to 1,421 thousand KW/h. Economic damage from undersupply of electricity for nine months of 2015 also decreased by 6.9%.

As noted by First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre Alexander Pilyugin: "Power engineers of IDGC of Centre could achieve these results thanks to implementation of targeted programs to enhance reliability, proper planning of reconstruction and repair programs, implementation of a set of measures aimed at effective detection and troubleshooting of electric grid equipment."

In order to reduce the failure-rate IDGC of Centre does systematic work on repair and modernization of power grid facilities, implementing new technologies and equipment. In total, since the beginning of this year about 16,954 thousand km of power lines of different voltage classes (0.4-110 kV, including cable lines), 188 substations of 35-110 kV and 3,956 transformer substations of 0.4-10 kV have been renovated.

Serious attention is traditionally paid to the program of clearing and extension of ROWs of power lines. This is done in order to prevent possible technological failures caused by breaking power lines with falling branches or trees on wires. 13,693 thousand hectares of ROWs along overhead power lines have been cleared from trees and shrubs.

Reducing the time to eliminate emergency situations depends on the level of operating and maintenance personnel, therefore IDGC of Centre pays great attention to improving their skills, regularly working out necessary skills and expertise. Currently 1,418 repair and first responding mobile crews consisting of 7,909 people and 2,041 special and off-road vehicles can be involved in elimination of failures and emergency situations.

In the service area of IDGC of Centre there are 11 subjects of the Russian Federation with a total population of over 13 million people. The production potential of IDGC of Centre is 2.4 thousand substations of 35-110 kV with total capacity of 33.8 thousand MVA and 95.3 thousand substations of 6-10 kV with total capacity of about 18 thousand MVA. The total length of power lines of 0.4-110 kV - 379 thousand kilometres.
