IDGC of Centre connects the Crimean schools to backup power sources

4 December 2015

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre (part of the Group of Companies "Rosseti") have started connecting children's educational institutions of the city of Sevastopol to uninterruptible power supply sources, previously delivered by the capital city of the Crimean peninsula. In total three crews of power engineers of IDGC of Centre have arrived to help Sevastopol for installation and maintenance of diesel generators.

It is planned to provide electricity to 67 city schools. A specially created crisis management centre in IDGC of Centre coordinates the work. Work is expected to be completed 6 December 2015. Presumably classes in schools will be able to continue already the next day.

The power engineers also transferred to colleagues from "Sevastopolenergo" high-voltage fuses that protect electrical equipment and electrical networks with the voltage of 1,000 V from short circuit currents and over-tolerance overloads. Due to the currently used in Crimea rotating power supply outages for residential houses, sharp fluctuations in electricity consumption of the population provoke voltage drops and failure of high-voltage fuses.

Please, be reminded that on the night of 21 to 22 November as a result of undermining the poles of power lines in the Kherson region, the Crimea was disconnected from the power system of Ukraine. Currently, the power system of the peninsula runs in an isolated mode, rotating outages apply for saving. Social facilities are connected to independent power supply sources.
