8 May 2015

IDGC of Centre in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory continues the implementation of the historical and social project "Story of a feat". Its goal is to tell about unknown exploits of the Great Patriotic War, as well as help families and loved ones of heroes to perpetuate their memory. IDGC of Centre set up the websites at http://istoriyapodviga.ru and историяподвига.рф. Anyone who wants to tell war stories of his or her family, relatives, friends and acquaintances can post them here and attach pictures to them, scanned copies of awards and other historical documents.

The project started in early April and has already received a wide response not only in the regions of Russia, but also in neighbouring countries. The sites "Story of a feat" have been visited by about one hundred thousand people. Currently, they have hundreds of stories posted that were sent by residents of the Central region, Leningrad, Volgograd, Murmansk, Astrakhan regions, the Crimea, Bashkiria and other Russian entities, as well as Belarus and Ukraine. Local media tell about events that took place in the regions of the company’s service area, living there heroes of the stories.

Letters from regional and municipal authorities, as well as public organizations, who expressed words of support and gratitude, are sent to the address of IDGC of Centre.

"Your project helps people pay tribute to the heroism of their loved ones, better and deeper understanding of the significance of the Victory, show an example of careful and reverent attitude to the historical heritage of Russia. The Administration of the Lipetsk region supports the initiative of creating the historical and social project "Story of a feat", and I thank you for doing this large-scale work," stressed Governor of the Lipetsk region Oleg Korolev in his letter to General Director of IDGC of Centre Oleg Isaev.

Chairman of the Bryansk Regional Duma Vladimir Popkov in his letter emphasizes that it is important that the project was created on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory. "The efforts of all those, who created, organized and promoted, will help shape the new generation of values based on patriotism, respect for the history and pride for the Motherland," he is sure.

"The project "Story of a feat" helped open new pages of military history, publish unknown to the general audience stories about destinies and feats performed on the front and in the rear, learn new names of heroes. With this socially significant initiative a high sense of patriotism of love for the Motherland, loyalty to its values and ideals are passed to the younger generation, who has yet to seriously understand the importance of the victory over fascism," notes the letter of the Tambov regional branch of the All-Russian public organization of veterans "Russian Union of Veterans".

The project "Story of a feat" implementation continues. On the eve of May 9 in the regions of IDGC of Centre’s service area one of the key activities passed: power engineers together with representatives of public organizations planted "Alleys of Heroes", which immortalized the names of the heroes who they managed to discover because of it. And the project websites still receive more and more stories about the exploits of those, who seven decades ago bravely fighting on the front lines and having dedicated work in the rear, helped approach the Victory.
