IDGC of Centre expands the geography of its "Motor rally of energy efficiency"

On 12 May IDGC of Centre launched the second "Motor rally of energy efficiency". Its main purpose is to popularize energy saving principles among the younger generation. Under this project power engineers will visit several regions of the Central Federal District and conduct in local schools a series of case studies in which they will tell children about advanced energy-saving technologies. As a vehicle, and an energy-efficient visual aid specialists of the company will use an electric car. They will demonstrate its structure and functionality to schoolchildren, and provide an opportunity to have a ride on it.

The project starts in the Orel region, and then the baton will be taken by the Bryansk and Kursk regions. In total, the power engineers will tour several dozen districts, and about ten thousand schoolchildren will participate in their classes.

 

IDGC of Centre held the first "Motor rally of energy efficiency" in October 2014 in the Orel region. More than 2,500 pupils from 26 schools in all parts of the region were participants in the project. It aroused great interest not only among children but also adults, and therefore the company decided to expand its geography.

In the first motor rally they succeeded to fully appreciate the benefits of the electric vehicle. It drove 1,098 km, for which it took only 192 kWh of electricity worth 654 rubles. For comparison, a car, equipped with an internal combustion engine, would run the same distance with 110 litres of gasoline in the amount of 3,733 rubles. As for the energy efficiency the electric vehicle surpassed its gasoline counterpart by 5.7 times.
