"Tambov frontline - Voronezh battlefield" - so called the action, which on the eve of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was held by power engineers of two branches of IDGC of Centre, "Tambovenergo" and "Voronezhenergo". The action took place in the Voronezh region, which was visited by employees of Tambovenergo as part of the motor rally to places of military glory. It was attended by veterans of the energy industry, as well as activists of the youth councils and trade union organizations of both branches.
The fighting with the fascist invaders that unfolded in the Voronezh region in its cruelty and duration was not much intense as battles for Stalingrad. For 212 days and nights Voronezh was at the front, and after the liberation from the Nazi invaders was destroyed by more than 90%. In Voronezh borders enemy was stopped and defeated. He could not break further and capture other regions, which continued to work for the Victory.
This fully applies to the Tambov region. There they could convert to military production virtually all production in the region. Tambov plants produced the legendary "Katyusha", shells, and mines. Tambov residents forged the Victory not only in plants but also in the forefront. More than 450 thousand residents of the region went to the front. According to archival data, the majority of them fought at the Voronezh (later - 1st Ukrainian) front, defending the Voronezh land. More than 250 thousand natives of the Tambov land did not come back from the war.
Voronezh power engineers organized for their Tambov colleagues a number of historical and patriotic and commemorative events. Together they visited the Park of patriots of Voronezh, where they laid wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame, as well as the dedicated to the anniversary of Victory exhibition at the Centre of military-patriotic education "Museum-Diorama". The power engineers also visited other memorable places of Voronezh - the memorial complex "Chizhovsky foothold" on the bank of the Voronezh Reservoir and the monument to Glory, located in Northern district of the city, the site of violent and bloody battles for the capital of the Black Earth region.
The joint event ended with a visit to the monument to fallen soldiers in the mass grave in the settlement of Somovo, which Voronezhenergo is a patron of. After laying flowers and paying homage to the fallen defenders of the Fatherland with a minute of silence, the power engineers laid the "Alley of Memory" at the memorial. These alleys will appear by May 9 in all the regions where IDGC of Centre operates in the framework of the implemented large-scale historical and social project "Story of a feat". The "Alley of Memory" will immortalize the names of heroes, who they are able to learn through the project.
"Holding our action, we would like to emphasize once again the inextricable link between the two regions. Thanks to the Voronezh colleagues, we were able once again to touch our common history, to pay tribute and to honour the memory of all the fallen in the Voronezh land, including our fellow countrymen," stressed one of the organizers of the event, Head of Integrated Management Systems of Tambovenergo Alexander Abramov.
"Such joint actions, in which the older generation and young people participate, help strengthen the continuity of generations. It is important that our children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren will never forget what a great feat was committed by their ancestors. And conducting such activities, we are approaching this goal," underlined Chairman of the trade union of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division Evgeny Pronyaev.
