IDGC of Centre — Yarenergo division provides centralized power supply of the Yaroslavl region in an area of 36.2 thousand square kilometres with a population of over 1315 thousand people. As of March 2013 the total number of employees is 2213 people.

In fact Yarenergo has been in operation since January 1934, when «Yarenergokombinat» was founded on the basis of the Yaroslavl GRES, constructed in accordance with the electrification plan GOERLO and Yaroslavl district grid. In November 1939 «Yarenergokombinat» merged CHP-1, previously owned by the rubber-asbestos plant. Then Yarenergo got its present name.

As part of the completion of the changes while reforming «Yarenergo», made in 2006-2008, «Yarenergo» among 10 other power companies merged JSC «Interregional Distribution Grid Company of Centre». Since March 31, 2008 Yarenergo has been a subsidiary of IDGC of Centre, JSC.
